DNS Compliance Policy Monitoring DNS Server Addresses In high security environments, IT Admins should monitor if the DNS server addresses on computers have been changed to unwanted IP addresses, which could redirect network traffic to nefarious sites. NIC Configurator 2026 can monitor these addresses on each computer, send notifications via email and SMS if these configurations fall out of compliance with your DNS policy settings. If auto-config mode is enabled for these network adapters, NIC Configurator 2026 will automatically remediate these DNS server IP addresses to match your NIC Policy settings.
Hosts File NIC Configurator 2026 can now alert you of active DNS entries in hosts files on client computers. Simply select the "Check for DNS entries in hosts files" checkbox to add this property to your NIC policy. For example, if your NIC policy is associated with network adapters on 5,000 computers, NIC Configurator 2026 will alert you if nefarious DNS entries are added to any of those 5,000 computers. When enabled, notifications are displayed in Compliance Monitor and can be sent via e-mail or text message to your phone.
